Get The Look: Zambesi at NZFW

The hair brief for Zambesi’ NZFW show, ‘Song to the Siren,’ took inspiration from the siren’s mysterious allure with an otherworldly touch. This was achieved by creating a sculptural silhouette, sleek and intentional, echoing shapes inspired by the sea. Calmly powerful in mood, this hair look interprets a modern siren through clean, restrained styling that complements the collection.

Want to achieve the siren look at home? Here's everything you will need:

STEP 1: SECTION & GEL

Find the centre part and section out a 1-inch horseshoe section at the top of the head. Fasten this section away. Work from the nape upwards, taking 1-inch sections. Apply Davines More Inside Strong Hold Cream Gel to each section with a small brush, then use a comb to sculpt the hair downwards and create a tight, sleek head shape. Continue this technique all the way up the head, maintaining a clean, sculpted shape.

STEP 2: DRY

Using a hairdryer on high speed and low heat, dry the hair thoroughly into place.

STEP 2: FINISH

Take down the top section and use the gel to create twisted shapes, laying them over the top of the sculpted hair. These twists are designed to add dimension and help create the siren-inspired look.

PRO TIP– For some looks, we have also used pre-made hairpieces, fastening them around the face to create soft, wave-like shapes across the skin. The finished look combines the tight, sculpted head shape with softer, flowing details around the face.
